Eugene Tzigane

Mr. Tzigane currently serves as the Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the Kuopio Symphony Orchestra, where he has crafted seasons inspired by the grand Espressivo Tradition of the 19th century. His inaugural season, titled The Romantic Rebellion, introduced audiences to the profound world of Wagnerian interpretation, guiding listeners through deeply emotional and psychological musical landscapes. Rather than adhering to a rigid, analytical approach to musical texts, Mr. Tzigane seeks to breathe new life into his performances, infusing them with a sense of improvisation, drama, and narrative. His goal is to touch listeners on a profound, subconscious level, bypassing intellectual analysis and speaking directly to the soul. In his second season, The War of the Romantics, he explores the enduring conflict between conservative and avant-garde forces in 19th-century music, illustrating how this battle for the soul of music continues to resonate in our time.
